Melanie received the Baccalaureate in Arts degree (with Honours) in Computing and Information Science from the University of Guelph in 2007. She is currently studying spatial relations in image processing under Dr. Pascal Matsakis in pursuit of the MSc. degree. Her research interests include Image Annotation and Object Recognition in Image Processing, and Natural Language Processing. Melanie is a socially responsible consumer and is passionate about organic and sustainable food and health practices. She also enjoys sewing and reading - especially, on gender inequality issues ;)
Ali is jumping into her second year of a Bachelor of Computing with a Minor in Studio Art. When a person can juggle and make balloon animals, it is safe to extrapolate that some time in her life is well spent. But when Ali should be coding she prefers to read fantasy and sci fi novels or play video games with a phone glued to her ear.
Lisa is in her third year of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computing and Information Science, with a Minor in English -- ostensibly as preparation to write a rambling, Joycian novel about robots with artificial-but-no-less-tragic feelings. She enjoys daytime television, folk music, and procrastination.
Sofija loves to jump head-first into things she knows little about…yada yada yada…she is completing the 3rd year of a Bachelor of Computing at the University of Guelph. Some CIS students have theorized over her sanity, but that’s only because she’s chosen to pair this field of study with a Minor in English. This combination is the result of a fascination with culture, a desire to learn anything new and a spontaneous approach to life: when you jump into a completely foreign experience, there’s a chance you’ll become something you couldn’t have imagined … and there’s something thrilling about escaping your own limitations.

Madeleine is completing the fourth year of a Bachelor of Computing with an area of application in Studio Art …and these are ALL the normal things about her.
When this triplet isn't sitting in one of the computer labs with some form of caffeine by her side, you'll probably find her stuffed in a darkroom making photo prints or in an even darker closet rolling film. She’s driven to this state by her love of photography. Her fascination with imagery expands into cinematography as well. On the other hand, when Madeleine is in the computer lab, she’s more likely to be debugging another lost soul’s code than developing on her own. She was a great resource to her peers long before her current position as an undergraduate TA.
…If you want to be Madeleine's hero forever, give her sushi.
